
Low Temp Carbon Steel (Low Carbon Cast Steel) is a low-temperature carbon steel alloy specifically designed for cryogenic and sub-zero temperature applications. It provides high toughness, ductility, and impact resistance in extreme cold but requires corrosion protection in harsh environments.
Properties
- Excellent Low-Temperature Toughness – Maintains strength and impact resistance down to -46°C (-50°F).
- Good Weldability & Machinability – Easily welded and machined for custom valve configurations.
- Moderate Corrosion Resistance – Performs well in mildly corrosive fluids but may require coatings or liners for aggressive environments.
- High Strength & Durability – Suitable for medium- to high-pressure applications.
- Cost-Effective – More affordable than stainless steel for cryogenic applications.

Limitations
- Limited Corrosion Resistance – Not ideal for highly acidic, chloride-rich, or marine environments without coatings.
- Not Suitable for High-Temperature Use – Performance drops above 343°C (650°F).
- Heavier Than Stainless Steel – May require additional support in large applications.
