TFM-1600 is a modified PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) material used in valve seats, seals, and linings. Due to its enhanced mechanical properties, it offers improved creep resistance, and superior sealing performance compared to standard PTFE for gas tightness, and chemical compatibility in demanding industrial applications.

Properties

  • Improved Creep Resistance – Reduces cold flow and deformation, maintaining better long-term sealing.
  • Superior Chemical Resistance – Maintains PTFE’s inertness, making it ideal for aggressive chemical environments.
  • Lower Permeability – Offers better gas-tight sealing than standard PTFE, reducing leakage.
  • Wide Temperature Range – Performs well from -200°C to 260°C (-328°F to 500°F).
  • Excellent Surface Finish – Smoother than standard PTFE, reducing friction and wear in valve applications.

TFM-1600 vs. Standard PTFE in Valves
• Lower creep and deformation making it more reliable in high-pressure sealing.
• Better gas tightness and reduced permeability issues in gas applications.
• Same excellent chemical resistance as PTFE.

Limitations

  • Lower Wear Resistance – Not as wear-resistant as RTFE (i.e. carbon or glass-filled PTFE).
  • Not Suitable for Extreme Load Applications – Can still deform under very high loads.
  • Higher Cost than Standard PTFE – Due to its enhanced properties.

Common Applications

Ball Valve Seats – Provides better sealing and lower leakage rates than conventional PTFE seats.
Chemical Processing Valves – Used in highly corrosive fluid handling systems.
Cryogenic Valves – Performs well in low-temperature sealing applications.
Pharmaceutical & Food Valves – Compliant with FDA and USP Class VI for sanitary applications.
High-Pressure Valves – More resistant to deformation under pressure than standard PTFE.
